The "Localvore" Movement and Sassy Scrubs
Have you ever heard the term “localvore”? Localvores, broadly defined, are people who focus on consuming locally produced foods. The idea behind localvore-ism is that when one buys locally, the local economy, community, and environment are strengthened because money stays within the community, relationships are formed between producer and consumer, and fewer resources are needed to move the food such a short distance.
The localvore movement seems to be expanding as our society’s environmental conscience grows. There are CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture) that allow consumers to buy shares of food directly from farmers, cooperatively owned markets cropping up around the country, and a resurgence of farmers’ markets. The localvore movement now goes beyond just edibles and embraces all things. Collectives have popped up around the country that guide consumers to buy regionally produced products, many of which are handmade.
Here at Sassy Scrubs, we embrace the localvore ideals. Every single scrub, lab coat, and apron that carries our label is custom cut, sewn, and sent out from our headquarters in upstate New York. We are proud to say that our scrubs are made in the USA.
We love to learn about our customers and get your feedback so that we can better meet your needs. And, when you order from Sassy Scrubs, it even saves energy because we ship directly to you without any middlemen. Definately one reason why I try my best to buy American made products. Less stress on the environment, $ stays in this country, Americans stay employed.
My fiancee' and I try to support local farmers as well. We try to buy local produce here on Long Island.
Oh, I only ride surfboards made on Long Island as well. ;)
